Elena Ciprietti

August - December 2008

Fordham University - Italian Studies and Communications

"As an American intern at RAI Corporation, I had the wonderful experience of learning first-hand about media and how the company operates. Aside from learning administrative skills, I was able to work alongside the members of Client Services with requests, research and pre-production. I have taken the skills that I have learned with me to drive my passion in my studies and at my current internship at D Magazine: la Repubblica delle donne. Although I am pursuing a concentration in film, I am inspired to explore different aspects of Italian media. I am very excited to be studying communications this fall in Milano at Universita' Cattolica del Sacro Cuore. I feel as if RAI was the foundation I needed in order to realize that this is something I love and can not wait to pursue in the future."

Erminia Chiodo – Production

September – November 2008

University of Rome “Roma Tre”

Literature and Philosophy

"I'm working as an intern at CNN Rome! The work here is very similar to my job at Rai Corp as I'm helping the Producer of Alessio Vinci, CNN correspondent from Rome. Of course this is an Italian bureau: very small office, a few people working in (just the journalist, the cameramen/editor and the Producer...3 people... crazy if compared to the crowd of people at Rai Corp)...more relaxed rhythm... I work both in English and Italian...and this is a very good point as I can practise a lot my English (you know I really need to do it!!! Uahahhaah). I'm having fun with the "Alitalia" crisis, Perugia's murder, all the statements from Vatican...even if the journalist travels very often also in the Balcans and in Middle East.

I can say the experience with Botteri and all the tg3 team was fundamental for my following step in my training as a journalist...It was my first time in a tv station so all the skills and abilities I have now, I learned from their work! I had the opportunity to see how one of the best Italian journalist worked during the historical moment of the Presidential election, and to know the fundamental role of the producer in making news segment. Their professionalism, their enthusiasm and the passion for this work they transmitted, made me feel sure that I wanna try hard to be a part of the "news world"! I'll never end to thanks all of them for what they teached me...and for the patience they had with my several mistakes…

I also had an interview with Ap Rome…and it was positive l!! I’ll start with another internship there when I’ll finish here in April! And all of this…thanks to Rai Corp!"

"Hi everybody, I'm Daniela Sallustio I worked in the production department, from January to April 2008,  as producer assistance for TG2 managed by Gerardo Greco. It was a great experience stay there, learned how the news became services, do research on internet and on the American media, filming from the famous site you dream since you are a baby and also collaborating in the editing of the service.  Now I’m in Italy, studying for my final thesis and contemporary work as a secretary.  I’m going to attend  a master here in Rome in Economy and management of communication and media, and also I’m going to write a book under Gerardo Greco’s  suggestion, concerning the new way to do the journalist…. Soon in the library.  Bye!"

Roberta Izzo - Client Services

August - November 2007
Bocconi University (Milan)
Master of Science in Economics and Management of Arts, Culture and Communication

"Every time I watch RAI here in Italy I run into part of my experience at Rai Corporation in New York.
I have worked in the Client Service division for three months, executing the updating of the Videoreport, that is a twice-weekly report about the premiere of American TV series.
Before arriving there, I didn't know exactly which would have been my task, so the only expectation I had was to give my original contribution to the duty and, in a way, I did it (as a student of Economics, after collecting the share data, I tried to analyze the trend of these TV series). The result? I am now a TV series addicted!
When I came back in Italy, I did another internship at a research and consulting firm on communication industries. Now I am writing my thesis, that is about the strategies of internationalization of public broadcasters in the United States and of course RAI!"

David Arcifa - Client Services

October 2007 – January 2008
University of Padova
Master in Communication for International Relations

“I hope everything it is going in a good way in the amazing New York City: about me, I am working in Milan at Nestlè Purina PetCare right now, specifically at the External Relations Office.  Until now, I am really having a good time but still missing the big apple...for sure you know what I mean.”

Laura Mongillo – Client Services
January – May 2008
NYU
Italian Studies

“I had the unique experience of being the only American intern at Rai Corporation (for now...).  Doing an internship in Client Services during the spring of this year was a wonderful opportunity for me.  I started my time at Rai Corp with a limited knowledge of the media industry, Italian or American, a fluent level of Italian (something that definitely comes in handy) and a desire to learn and work in an international business environment.  Not only did I come out of my internship speaking even better Italian, knowing the ins and outs of setting up external shoots, lives, and standups, and finally understanding the connections and differences between American and Italian television, I also discovered a passion for media, a particular adeptness to fit into this multicultural working envirornment, and had the opportunity to work with not one, but two sets of talented interns here at Rai Corporation.  Now I am an employee of Rai Corporation, as a Freelancer in the Client Services office responsible for administrative and pre-production activites, and my time as an intern proved to be extremely helpful and formative for my current position.  For me, this was a rare and special opportunity, giving me inspiration and skills to use currently and in the future.”
