RAI Corporation Internship Program

RAI Corporation is the American subsidiary of RAI Radiotelevisione Italiana (often seen as Rai Radiotelevisione Italiana S.p.A.), Italy’s public broadcasting system.  RAI Radiotelevisione Italiana is the primary Italian radio and television broadcasting system, having first begun broadcasting in 1954.   Its service covers all of Italy and reaches many of the Italian communities abroad.  It has been a dominant force in the development, shaping and expansion of Italian culture within Italy and globally for more than 50 years.

RAI Corporation was established in 1960 as an operational base for the production of segments of RAI programs aired in Italy and for the international distribution of Italian programs.  RAI Corporation supplies a variety of services to all departments of RAI, including the production of news and entertainment programs; distribution; acquisition; sales; and marketing research.   RAI Corporation's headquarters are located in New York, with affiliate offices in Montevideo, Uruguay and Toronto, Canada. 

RAI Corporation provides RAI with news segments and features to be utilized within Italy, giving the Italian audience a firsthand account of events and stories occurring in the Americas and thus providing a local, yet distinctively Italian perspective, on world news and issues.

RAI Corporation plays an active role in the promotion, distribution and production of radio, TV segments and local news for the 24-hour RAI Italia channel broadcast around the world via satellite.  RAI Italia broadcasts the best of RAI programming, as well as programming produced specifically for Italian-speaking audiences who reside outside of Italy.

RAI Corporation airs Italian language radio programs in the US and in Canada by receiving RAI programming from Italy and redistributing it via a network of local radio stations.  

RAI Corporation supports RAI, its many companies and divisions, and outside clients, in numerous ways.   RAI Corporation monitors the American market, maintaining contacts with film and television production companies, and produces a company-wide website focusing on industry developments and perspectives.  RAI Corporation works closely with RAI’s television networks in a production capacity, hiring producers and crews for US-based productions and providing general production guidance and support.  Among its many functions, RAI Corporation handles the requests made of RAI for archival material and works with RAI in the international sales of RAI programming to theatrical, home video and broadcast markets. 

RAI Corporation also represents RAI to Italian embassies, consulates, cultural institutions, subsidiaries of Italian companies in America; and maintains contacts with Italian-American institutions and with Italian private and public corporations.
